INTRODUCTION
We celebrate the victory we have in Christ Jesus
- 1Cor. 15:57 “…...thanks be to God which giveth us VICTORY through Lord Jesus Christ
- 2Cor. 2:14 “Thanks be unto God which always causeth us in triumph in Christ.
- 1John5:4 “He that is born of God overcometh the world, this is the VICTORY that ovecometh world….”
In the Beginning
Gen. 2:16-17 “…Eat the trees and surely die” God told man not to eat the fruit of the tree.
The devil wanted man to die. So, he planned that to deceive man to eat the fruit of the tree & die. He said man will not surely die, Gen. 3:4.
John 10:10 “...to Kill, to steal & to destroy”.
God had planned to redeem us from this death even before Adam handed, through our Lord Jesus.
1John 3:8” …to destroy the works of the devil”.
The devil thought he was destroying God’s purposed in man & Jesus’, but the Lord has the last joker.
1Cor. 2:8 “…If he had known, he would not have crucified the son of glory”.
Death, Burial and Resurrection
The resurrection power swallowed up death in victory on the cross
Phil 3:10 “..resurrection power
1Cor. 15:55 “..Death where is your sting grave where id your victory”
He made a public show of it, triumphing over it
Col. 2:14-15.
Final victory
The final victory was wrought when Christ took the key of death & hell form the devil. Rev. 1:18.
Heb. 2:14” …Jesus came to destroy him that had the power of death. The devil.
He gave us the keys of the kingdom to us as promised in Mat16:18-19
Significance of His death, burial & resurrection
1) He died that we may live in eternity.
2) He was stripped & he shed His blood so we may be healed. Isa 53:5 & 1Pet. 2:24
3) The wore the crown of thorns so that the curse of thorns can be erased. Gen.3:18, Mat 27:29
4) The sweated so that the curse of sweat can be erased. Gen, 3:19, Luke 22:44
5) The temple veil was torn in two so that we can have easy access to the throne room of grace. Mark 15:38, Heb. 4:16
6) He was bruised for our iniquities Isa. 53:5
7) He was chastised for our peace. Isa. 53:5
8) They spat on him in shame so that our shame & reproach can be rolled away & can be erased. Mark 15:19, Joshua 5:9
The power of death was swallowed up in at the resurrection day. Heb 2:14
The power of death was questioned in 1Cor. 15:55
The power of death was disgraced in Col. 2:14
Christian be confident in this, that He has finished the victory as he said in John 19:30 and so Phil 1:6 is our watch word.
